Dave Smith
Chief Executive Officer
Dave Smith, the founder of Mount Construction Co., Inc., trained as a carpenter with the aspiration of one day starting his own construction business. Since then Dave has accumulated 23 years of construction and construction related experience. He has spent 18 of those years operating his company, Mount Construction Co., Inc.. Dave is currently CEO of Mount Construction Co., Inc..
Dave serves as a Board Member and Vice President of the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association of New Jersey (UTCA). The UTCA of New Jersey is a national award winning, non-profit trade association that currently includes approximately 1,100 member firms active in all phases of heavy, highway, site, utility and environmental remediation construction, in the public and private sectors, throughout the State. Dave also serves on the Legislative Committee for the UTCA.
Dave is a member of the NJ American Water Works Association and a member of the NJ Water Environmental Association. He also serves as President of the Mount Construction Co., Inc. Charitable Foundation, of which he organizes several charitable events including a yearly Charitable Golf Tournament to benefit a young member of our community.
Dave is very active in his community coaching various sports and working with various other organizations. He and his wife Jeanne have two children.
John J. Beirne, III
President
John J. (“Jay”) Beirne, III joined Mount Construction Co., Inc. as President in 2008. He oversees all daily operations. He has more than 20 years experience managing heavy civil construction projects and holds a B.A. in business administration from Humboldt State University (CA). He also served for five years in the Navy Seabees as a Builder.
Jay previously served as Operations Manager for James J. Anderson Construction Company, Inc. and Anderson Construction Services, Inc. in Philadelphia for nine years, where he was responsible for managing heavy civil projects for Penn DOT, the City of Philadelphia, and multiple commercial and industrial organizations. Prior to that, he was a Project Manager and Estimator for Allan A. Myers, Inc. and James Julian, Inc.
He and his wife Kelly have five children.
Karen Littlefield, CPA, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Drawing on 20 years of construction experience, Ms. Littlefield joined the Mount Construction Co., Inc. team in early 2002 as its Chief Financial Officer. She had previously obtained her B.A. in accounting from Stockton State College and her Masters of Business Administration from Rowan University.
Karen is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey and is a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Karen and her husband have two children.
Alexander J. Guerrina
Vice-President Estimating
Alex Guerrina came to Mount Construction Co., Inc. in April of 2007 with over 29 years of experience in heavy highway construction. He is a graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering.
Alex has sucessfully managed a broad spectrum of projects including site work, bridges, bulkheads, piers and roadwork. Over the last 15 years he was responsible for estimating and managing projects valued from $100,000 to $243,000,000 in both the private and public sector.
